Responsible for media outreach, planning media strategy, placing and writing op-eds on issues surrounding digital copyright and related topics, keeping Web site current.

 

Freelance Public Relations, 1/04 – present.  Provide press advice, write op-eds, press materials, other research for clients ranging from Air Transport Association, E9-1-1 Institute, Emergency Interoperability Coalition.

 

Congressional Quarterly,  6/02 – 9/03. Deputy editor for Commerce and Industry, responsible for aviation, transportation, telecom and tech coverage supervising reporters and editing copy. (Similar responsibilities for energy, environment and agriculture issues.)

 

Public Policy communications consultant.  8/01-6/02.  Self-employed, working as contract employee for Qwest Washington, D.C. office as director of communications.  Served lead media-relations contact for the company on issues of telecommunications policy and legislation.

 

Simon Strategies,  2/01 – 6/01.  Senior Vice President at public affairs consulting firm founded by Greg Simon, former chief adviser to Vice President Gore.  Consulting on telecom and Internet-related issues including spectrum management, domain names and intellectual property issues.

Responsibilities include telecom policy analysis and projects, including "Falling Through the Net" digital divide report, writing speeches, op-eds and news releases, setting press strategies and responding to media inquiries.
